Hamza is the Managing Principal and co-founder of ZMR Capital. While intimately involved in all aspects of the company, Hamza’s main focus at ZMR Capital is in raising capital and managing investor relations. Prior to founding ZMR Capital, Hamza was a partner at a London stock brokerage company for 10 years. Hamza has a background in Military Engineering and holds an honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and Urban Planning from the University of London. A graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Hamza’s man management skills are integral to all repositioning success at the properties.
Colt leads the acquisition and asset management teams for ZMR Capital Property Holdings. Prior to ZMR Capital Colt served as Director of Asset Management for Avesta where he oversaw the management of over 15,000 units and served on the Investment Committee for the firm. Colt previously led the asset management team at ECI Capital in Atlanta, GA where he was directly involved in the acquisition, development and asset management of over 12,500 units in the southeast US. He began his career repositioning distressed assets through Receivership during the Great Recession. He holds a BA in Spanish and Management from Kennesaw State University and an MBA in Finance from Georgia State University.
Prior to joining ZMR Capital, Chip had more than fifteen years of experience in commercial and multifamily real estate. Through his tenure his focus has been on the sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and escrow closing of multifamily properties nationwide. He has transacted on over 25,000 units totaling over $2B in the past ten years. Chip began his career working in the securitization departments of international law firms in New York City. Chip holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hobart College and is a licensed real estate salesperson in the State of Florida.
Prior to ZMR Capital, Matthew was Senior Director for InvestRes (fka Avesta) overseeing the investment portfolio of 15,000 multifamily units & $1.5B assets under management, serving on the Investment Committee, and leading the Portfolio Management, Debt, & Investor Relations teams for the firm.
Matthew holds a BSBA in Finance from the University of Florida and a MBA in Finance from the University of Tampa.
Akshay Kapoor currently serves as the Investment Associate for ZMR Capital. Prior to ZMR Capital, Akshay Kapoor served as the Senior Finance Analyst for InvestRes / ResProp Management working for their capital markets, portfolio management and investor relations teams. He primarily focused on all financing efforts for acquisitions as well as refinances while also serving the executive leadership on portfolio surveillance and managing the corporate budgeting and captive insurance processes. Prior to InvestRes, he was a Business Analyst for Citibank, working on its cross border payments platform serving financial institutions and public corporations located in more than 195 countries. Akshay received an MSF from The University of Tampa and did his B.S. degree in Economics and Finance from India.
Prior to joining ZMR Capital, Spencer served on the Investment Management team at InvestRes where he was responsible for the repositioning and asset management of a 3,500 unit portfolio across Florida and Texas. Spencer also spent time in operations with InvestRes, overseeing their South Florida portfolio for both owned and third party assets. During his time with InvestRes, Spencer managed the disposition of over 5,000 units. Spencer holds a BA in Economics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Phillip is responsible for all facets of the firm’s acquisitions throughout the US. He targets opportunistic, value-add properties that have an inviting narrative and a significant upside potential. Phillip ensures that only properties that match ZMR’s strict underwriting criteria progress through to completion. He maintains a vast network of contracts, from his 15 years in the industry, that he utilizes to source off-market transactions. Prior to joining ZMIR, Phillip Liang completed his BA in Business Administration from FSU. He has underwritten over 250 million in multifamily assets and completed over 100 residential investment transaction over his career and has vast experience in dealing with ABGCOS and EB-5 investors.
